The Point-to-Point Racing Company (PTPRC) is delighted to announce that national coverage of Point-to-Pointing in print media via the Racing Post Weekender will continue for the coming season which starts on 19th November.

The supplement will again be generously sponsored by The Jockey Club and Arena Racing Company and will look to build on the successful first year of partnership by making the content even more relevant and fresh. The PTPRC continue to look after the page creation for the supplement alongside their existing responsibilities of managing Point-to-Pointing’s main website and the weekly production of Go Pointing, plus general administration of the sport.

The Weekender will carry the supplement, Point-to-Point Weekly; every Wednesday; this year it will feature reviews as well as entries, results and features.

The first edition will be available from 15th November and there will once again be vouchers made available for pointtopoint.co.uk subscribers to download and use.

Commenting on the venture, Patrick Davis, Racing Director at Weatherbys and a Director of the PTPRC said: “Point-to-Point Racing is undoubtedly one the grassroots of racing under rules and provides a valuable nucleus of talent and support for the wider sport of horseracing. We are extremely grateful to The Jockey Club, Arena Racing Company and the Racing Post for their continued support of this initiative which gives the sport such an important national shop window.”

Simon Bazalgette, Group Chief Executive of The Jockey Club, said: “We care deeply about Point-to-Point racing as a stakeholder in the sport, as we do with all forms of grassroots racing in Britain. We’re proud to support the Point-to-Point community as the sponsor of both the Mares Maiden Series and Champion Novice Mare Award, as well as welcoming many horses to race at our courses coming from the Point-to-Point circuit. Alongside Arena Racing Company we wanted to ensure that this important part of our sport is showcased through the Racing Post Weekender.”

Susannah Gill, Director of External Affairs of Arena Racing Company said: “We are delighted to once again be supporting the Racing Post Weekender, in partnership with The Jockey Club, given we all recognise that the success of National Hunt racing in Great Britain is built on the talent, enthusiasm and hard work of those within the Point-to-Point community. It is essential that information about the sport and its participants is available to the widest possible audience and the supplement is an essential way of achieving this. ARC hopes everyone within Point-to-Pointing enjoys another successful season when it gets underway next month.”

Mark Whittaker, Head of Newspapers and Operations Director for the Racing Post, said: “The Racing Post and Weekender are delighted to renew again their coverage of Point - to - Pointing for the 2017-18 season. The continuance of grassroots jumps racing is very important as a feeder to racing under rules but also in supporting rural community activity. I know from personal experience the hard work undertaken by volunteers to put on the sport and hope their work is well rewarded this coming season.”
