When Layerthorpe led the horses towards Hereford’s first hurdle on Monday 4 November, he sent ARC into the record books as the first large racecourse group anywhere in the world to ensure that every runner at their 16 venues is delivering live performance data.

The cumulative distance raced from tracked horses – 117,741km - is equivalent to 10 million strides and would take you nearly three times around the earth. Other highlights include:

The data is provided post race for free to horsemen to analyse horse performance via www.attheraces.com using their progressive display.

Broadcasters, bookmakers, pro gamblers, form experts and punters are all subscribing to the data in different ways thereby making this a commercially sustainable rollout.

Will Duff Gordon, CEO and Founder of TPD comments, “We’d like to thank ARC for their support in making this happen, from the vision shown in 2015 by senior management to each of the Clerks of the Course with whom we have excellent working relationships.

We would also like to thank the Levy Board for their recent funding contribution.

A huge thanks must go to our technology partners at Gmax whose precision and engineering excellence has made this possible.

The two most exciting new features for the next few months are the displays of jumping fluency on AtTheRaces.com and the distribution of In Play odds to bookmakers.

TPD is manged, owned and operated by people who love racing so please come and see us in the Weighing Room for more information.”

ARC Group Technology and Betting Director, Tony Clare commented, “We are delighted to complete the rollout of GPS tracking with TPD and At The Races across all of our racecourses.  We know that the future of betting on racing will rely on a complete package of pictures alongside complete data sets, so all of the information produced by TPD and published by ATR will become more and more important for punters and horsemen alike”.
