The two racecourses in South Wales have a new senior management team.

Both Chepstow and Ffos Las Racecourses are now owned by the Arena Racing Company (ARC) after the West Wales course near Llanelli was purchased from businessman Dai Walters last year.

ARC owns and operates 16 racecourses in the UK including Doncaster, Uttoxeter, Newcastle and Royal Windsor as well as greyhound tracks, hotels and golf courses.

Phil Bell becomes the Executive Director of both racecourses with Caroline Williams appointed General Manager at Chepstow and Simon Rowlands taking over the same role at Ffos Las.

Caroline has worked at Chepstow for seven years and prior to that held senior positions at Glamorgan cricket club and Bath Racecourse.

Simon was previously Catering General Manager at Chepstow following a career in several other hospitality businesses.

Both racecourses will host a total of 51 race meetings in 2019 alongside a range of other events including festivals, running and cycling events, trade shows and exhibitions. Both racecourses will have Madness playing live after racing this summer.

Phil Bell, said, “Horse racing is Britain’s second biggest spectator sport and we are excited by the opportunity to attract more people to the two courses in South Wales.

“I’m delighted that Caroline and Simon will be taking on their respective General Manager roles across Chepstow and Ffos Las, as they both bring plenty of experience in the sport and hospitality industries. I look forward to working with both of them across what will be a busy year of racing and events at both racecourses.”
