Arena Racing Company (ARC) is pleased to confirm that it has today been issued a licence by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA) to stage racing at Chelmsford City Racecourse, with the first meeting scheduled for Monday 2 November.

The conclusion of the licensing process follows an inspection of the racecourse earlier this week that included racecourse gallops, overseen by members of the BHA’s inspectorate team.

Present for the gallops were PJ McDonald and Charlie Bishop, the Professional Jockeys Association’s safety officers for the north and south, as well as Kieran O’Neill. The National Trainers Federation were represented by Rob Sage.

Racing will now return to Chelmsford City on Monday 2 November, entries for which will close at midday on Tuesday 27 October.

Chelmsford City Racecourse Executive Director Paul Ellison, said, "We are grateful to everyone involved in this process in getting ready for racing to return to Chelmsford City next month.

This has very much been an incredible effort from all parts of the ARC group. We are also grateful to the racecourse team, the BHA and the representatives of the PJA and NTF who have worked hard to make sure that everything is in place ahead of racing on 2 November. We are very much looking forward to welcoming participants and racegoers back to the racecourse."
