26 July 2014

The Angel Hotel Pershore Plum Festival Racenight in aid of Racing Welfare at Worcester Racecourse on the 29 July, is aiming to raise funds for Racing Welfare by organising a Grand UK Racecourse ticket draw. Racing Welfare is the charity that provides crucial support for the people of racing from the beginning of their careers through to retirement.

Jenny Cheshire, General Manager at Worcester who came up with the idea several months ago, said “This year, to make the event even more special we have asked all the Racecourses in Great Britain if they would be kind enough to support this day for Racing Welfare by donating a couple of raceday tickets or anything else they might wish to. All the racecourse prize vouchers will be put in a Grand Draw and we will ask jockeys riding on the day to conduct the draw on the night. We have been overwhelmed by the support of the racecourses and are pleased to confirm that all 58 are on board with us!”

Lesley Graham, Chief Executive of Racing Welfare, said This is fantastic support from the racecourses and I am heartened by the fact that there is so much recognition, within the industry, of the importance of our work. Im sure that the Plum Festival Racenight will be great fun as well as an ideal opportunity to raise much needed funds for racings charity.

The annual Pershore Plum Festival is a very popular event in Worcestershire which runs for the whole of the month of August. As a supreme plum growing area, the Festival with its events and tourist attractions, celebrates the plum harvest. Worcester Racecourse’s Pershore Plum Festival Evening is one of the main attractions where everyone is encouraged to sport the colour purple for an evening of fabulous summer jumping action for all the family on the banks of the River Severn.
