All Weather Championship

21 October 2016

Arena Racing Company (“ARC”) is delighted to announce the fourth season of the All-Weather Championships will see leading online betting operator, and Authorised Betting Partner of British Racing, Betway become sponsors of three Championship categories – the Sprint, Middle Distance and Marathon categories.

As sponsors of the Betway Lincoln at Doncaster Racecourse Betway already has a strong association with flat racing but this is their first major sponsorship on the all-weather.

This multi-year deal sees Betway join fellow Authorised Betting Partner 32Red as category sponsors for the upcoming All-Weather Championships. The Middle Distance championship race on Good Friday, worth £200,000 will be called on the Betway Easter Classic.

The 2016-17 All-Weather Championships will run from Thursday 27 October 2016 through to the £1 million Finals Day at Lingfield Park on Good Friday, 14 April 2017. Finals Day will be broadcast live on At The Races and ITV4.

All races at the six all-weather racecourses in Great Britain between these dates will count as qualifying runs, with Newcastle Racecourse’s new tapeta track involved for the first time. The qualifying criteria for horses will remain the same as for the 2015-16 All-Weather Championships season. Full details of the 2016-17 All-Weather Championships will be published next week. Details of the four Fast Track Qualifiers for each Championship category are already on the All-Weather Championships website and have been published in the BHA Racing Calendar.

This year will be the following six championship categories:

• Three Year Old

• Fillies & Mares

• Mile

• Sprint

• Marathon

• Betway Easter Classic Middle Distance

Each category will have a £150,000 Final on Good Friday with the exception of the Easter Classic Middle Distance which will be run for £200,000. On Finals Day the seventh race will be a £50,000 handicap for apprentice jockeys.

Betway Marketing Director, Anthony Werkman, said: “The All-Weather Championships have been a huge success since they were introduced four years ago and we’re thrilled to become a sponsor of three key categories.

“Having recently signed a deal to become an Authorised Betting Partner, we have shown our full commitment to British Racing. We’re very excited about this partnership with ARC and the Sprint, Middle Distance and Marathon categories sit perfectly alongside our existing flat sponsorships, including the Betway Lincoln, Betway Chester Cup and Betway Yorkshire Cup.”

ARC Group Director of Partnerships, David Leyden Dunbar, said: “We are delighted to welcome Betway as category sponsors of the All-Weather Championships. We have already had a successful partnership with the company through their sponsorship of the Betway Lincoln and it is exciting to have the chance to extend this to the All-Weather Championships.

“As Authorised Betting Partners they understand symbiotic nature of the racing and the betting industries and we are determined to continue to show the value of racing to their business through pioneering sponsorship opportunities, such as the All-Weather Championships.”
