Horse racing has been taking place 'behind closed doors' successfully since March. The safety of the sports participants is of the utmost importance and all racecourses have been working with the sports governing body, the British Horseracing Authority, to introduce strict protocols to safeguard everyone's health and wellbeing. These measures include:
- Vigorous health checks before entering the racecourse
- Strict social distancing
- Helping to protect the NHS by reducing medical services to a minimum
- Restricting owners
- New staff guidance and limiting personnel on site
Our broadcast partner, Sky Sports Racing, went behind the scenes to describe some of the new protocols put in place.
Sanitizer stations are located at the main racecourse entrances as well as the entrance to each internal area and inside bars.
Enhanced cleaning is taking place across the racecourse. All visitor touchpoints, such as light switches, door handles, handrails, tables and seats are regularly sanitized before, after and during horse racing fixtures and events.
