The Prestigious Southern National Returns!

Brace yourselves as the gruelling Southern National race returns to Fontwell Park this November at the UK’s only figure of 8 jumps track.

Southern National

The Southern National is one of Fontwell Park’s biggest and most prestigious racedays in the calendar. Aired on ITV Racing, this 3 mile 3 furlong endurance test is the ultimate ride for both horse and jockey. Experience it for yourself in real life at our raceday and live through the thrill and action of National Hunt racing! Previous winners include Tommie Beau (2023) and Slipway (2022). The atmosphere is always second-to-none and this year will be no different. Strap yourself in, you’re in for one of the South’s most exciting and competitive jump races in the calendar.

Countryside Entertainment

We’ll be hosting fun, family countryside entertainment including tractor rides, side stalls and pop-up local trade stands. Wrap up against the chill with the family and experience all Sussex has to offer.

Get in the festive spirit this December by wearing your best – or worst – Christmas jumper to the races. Whether you go for a simple red knit with snowflakes, or a in-your-face Christmas tree with 3D tinsel, baubles and gold star on top, we love to see it all our raceday!

Best Dressed

Wearing your Christmas jumper isn’t just for the fun (though it can be if you want it to be!) but wearing your best festivities can win your prizes. Every year our team look our for the very best Christmas attire. We will select our favourites on the day, before final judging in the Winners Enclosure during the day. The best dressed will take home big prizes. Runners up will also take home prizes.

The Boxing Day race meeting at Fontwell Park is a firm favourite for Sussex locals, seeing thousands flock to the UK’s only figure of 8 jumps track for a day out with friends and family. Parking on Boxing Day

The main entrance car park will be open on Boxing Day and is operated on a first-come, first-served basis. You cannot book this car park. Should you like to pre-book car parking, you can book the Centre Course parking space. This has limited availability and we recommend booking this far in advance to avoid disappointment.
