Our track doesn't do circles. The horses swoop round the bend and race downhill towards home, so every finish arrives at full pelt. Get down to the rail and you'll feel the ground shudder. Then nip round to the winner's enclosure to see the steam rise off the winner.
An afternoon well spent
Grab a drink, catch a bit of sun and see who can pick the most winners in your group. Bragging rights are free. The view's not bad either. Fast, close and loud
The season is in full flow now and the racing is fierce. The runners sweep round our horseshoe-shaped track and pour down the hill to the line, with jockeys pushing every inch. Stand at the finishing line and you'll hear the crowd before you see the horses.
Long light, cold drinks
July evenings were made for this. Grab a drink, find a spot with a view and let the sun take its time going down. Friends, family or a first date that's anything but boring. A summer night on the rail
Get close enough to hear the jockeys calling as the runners charge down our hill towards home. Then wander to the winner's enclosure and see the winner still blowing hard. Three days, one hill (and a lot of hooves): our Festival of Racing kicks off on Wednesday 4 August. It's the big week of our summer and the best of horse racing in August, Brighton style, with half the town up on the Downs.

Summer racing at full speed
The horses are at their sharpest now. Watch them handle the turn and then fly downhill to the line, with the whole hill cheering them on. Get down to the rail and you'll feel the thud of hooves through your feet.
Plenty of room to roam
There's loads of outdoor space, good food and cold drinks on hand. The Downs on one side, the Channel on the other and a winner (hopefully) in the middle. Late in the season, everyone is chasing a winner and you can feel it. Old hands and young hopefuls take on our sweeping downhill track, and the finishes get tight. Get to the parade ring early and you'll be close enough to hear the bridles jingle.
