The second of this season’s ARC All-Weather Horse of the Month bonuses for December has been won by Intervention. Connections will receive £20,000 after finishing clear at the top of the leaderboard with three wins from three starts and 15 points.

From 17 October 2023 to Good Friday March 29 2024, over £1,000,000 will be awarded to owners, trainers, jockeys and racing staff connected with the most consistent performers at ARC’s four All-Weather racecourses.

Points are awarded for finishing in 1st place down to 5th, and the horse with the most overall points at the end of the season will receive a bonus of £100,000 and be crowned Horse of The Year. Points are accrued in a horse’s first three runs in any monthly period at Lingfield Park, Newcastle, Southwell and Newcastle.

The Michael Appleby-trained seven-year-old Intervention won all three of his starts on the All-Weather in December, twice at Lingfield and once at Wolverhampton, for owners The Horse Watchers.

Enola Grey, trained by Gemma Tutty and owned by Cragg Wood Racing, finished as runner up on 14 points and will receive £10,000, having been beaten into second place on her first start of the month before back-to-back victories at Newcastle.

Three horses, Darlo Pride, Storymaker and Thapa VC finished the month tied for third on 13 points. However following a countback it is Storymaker, trained by George Boughey, and Thapa VC, trained by Mark Rimmel, who shared the £5,000 third place prize, having won two races as opposed to Darlo Pride who won just the once.

The bonus pot will now double to £70,000 in January, February and March with £40,000 going to the winner, £20,000 for the runner up and 10,000 for third place.
