No fewer than five horses have finished joint at the top of the leaderboard for the third of this season’s ARC All-Weather Horse of the Month bonuses for January. Each of the connections will receive £14,000 as they split the £70,000 total pot after they could not be separated at the top of the leaderboard with three wins from three starts and 15 points.

From 17 October 2023 to Good Friday March 29 2024, over £1,000,000 will be awarded to owners, trainers, jockeys and racing staff connected with the most consistent performers at ARC’s four All-Weather racecourses.

Points are awarded for finishing in 1st place down to 5th, and the horse with the most overall points at the end of the season will receive a bonus of £100,000 and be crowned Horse of The Year. Points are accrued in a horse’s first three runs in any monthly period at Lingfield Park, Newcastle, Southwell and Newcastle.

The Ruth Carr-trained ten-year-old Bobby Joe Leg (pictured) won all three of his starts on the All-Weather in January, twice at Southwell and once at Newcastle, for owner Angela Clark. The remarkable ten-year-old defied odds of 9/1, 7/1 and 100/30 to win on each occasion.

Beauzon, trained by Ian Williams and owned by the Beaunus Hunters, also made it a hat-trick of victories in January, winning all three starts at Wolverhampton. Bonito Cavalo, won all three of his starts at Newcastle for trainer Jim Goldie and owners the Whitestonecliffe Racing Partnership.

Classic winning trainer, David Simcock, trained Optik to three consecutive victories in January, twice at Wolverhampton before winning at Newcastle at the end of the month.

He’s An Angel, trained by Peter Niven and owned by Mr G. Lavery, was the fifth horse at the top of the leaderboard following victories at Wolverhampton, Southwell and Lingfield.

The bonus doubled to £70,000 in January, and will be the same for the months of February and March with £40,000 going to the winner, £20,000 for the runner up and 10,000 for third place.
