Jonathan Acott to join Fontwell Park Racecourse as Executive Director.

Arena Racing Company (“ARC”) is delighted to announce the appointment of Simon Williams as Executive Director at Royal Windsor Racecourse. In addition, Jonathan Acott joins Fontwell Park as Executive Director.

Simon Williams has been Executive Director at Fontwell Park Racecourse since 2014, following a career in football, with roles that included Head of Commercial and Marketing at Brighton and Hove Albion FC and Blackburn Rovers FC. Jonathan Acott joins ARC from Surrey Sports Park in Guildford, where he was most recently Head of Operations.

Fontwell Park has seen a significant growth in their business in Simon Williams’ time at the Racecourse, registering an 18% growth in attendances in 2016, including record numbers at feature days including Ladies Day and Family Day. These, along with the redesign of the Owners’ and Trainers’ experience at the racecourse, saw Fontwell Park nominated for a number of prestigious racing industry awards.

Simon Williams commented, “I’m very much looking forward to getting to work at Royal Windsor Racecourse. It is a fantastic venue with a rich heritage and a unique position in the landscape of British racing.”

“I’d like to thank my team at Fontwell Park for a fantastic three years, which have been hugely enjoyable. Despite the difference in codes, moving from jump racing to flat, many of the initiatives we have implemented at Fontwell Park will translate across to Royal Windsor, and I can’t wait to get started”.

Jonathan Acott commented, “I am thrilled to be joining Arena Racing Company; Fontwell Park is a fantastic racecourse in a wonderful part of the world and I am excited to start working with the team and helping them build on their significant recent successes.”

The 2017 season at Royal Windsor starts on Monday 10 April, and consists of 27 fixtures over the spring and summer. Highlights include the Sky Bet Summer Sprint Series, which takes place across Royal Windsor’s renowned Monday evening fixtures and culminating in a £75,000 final on Monday 21 August. Other notable racedays include the Best of British Festival featuring Gentlemen’s Day, Family Fun Day and Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Night, and there is also the famous Irish Night and then Ladies Day to finish the summer season.
